Fall Break '08
2008年5月6日火曜日
Yesterday I had so much fun with my friend Kori and Kim. We went to the mall and ate at a Chinese restaurant for lunch. Throughout the entire trip Kim took lots of pictures since Kori's camera was low on battery and I forgot mine at home. I even got to eat ice cream at Maggie Moo's and drink some RAMUNE from the World Market. Later on I took my iPod and listened to Indian music in Kim's car, they both wanted me to show them some dance moves. It was embarrassing to do it in public, so I just kept it to a minimum. But it was fun anyway. We even listened to some 80's music, as well as some Turkish music. Since they won't be in town for a while, I'll miss them a lot!

New Drama
There's a wonderful new series that I just recently finished called Nodame Contabile. Thankfully it's Johnnies free and well let's just put it this way, it was so much more amazing because of it. I'm only a fan of Kamenashi-kun and that only barely. Neeeways, this drama is based on classical music and the story of two people who's very lives revolve around it. On the one hand there's Noda Megumi (aka Nodame) who loves to play piano for fun and has the unusal talent of remembering an entire score after hearing it just once. And of course, there's our unusal hero, who's a perfectionist, workaholic, and manical-to-be conductor. The chemistry between the two is absolutely amazing more so in the Live-Action drama than the anime, but overall the story is absolutely amazing. It's a great watch with all of it's crazy characters and Ueno Juri plays a wonderful Nodame with all of her quirks ^___^ I give a 10 out of 10!! Great drama worth watching, especially on a down day, cuz it'll cheer you right up >.<
PSS. The orchestra that orginally formed for the anime and possibly the live action series went on to become an official orchestra with the name Nodame Orchestra ^__^ The CD cover above is their work.

Rozen Maiden
This is what I love about my break! I can watch as many shows as I want! Here's one I finished yesterday, Rozen Maiden. Cute little dolls (my personal fave: Hinaichigo >.<) who fight each other to become the Alice who will get to meet their creater whom they call father. The story first came out in manga format that just finished this year in June 2007 with a total of eight volumes and was then adapted for the anime in 2004. Anywho, the story in the anime is obviously different from the story in the manga since the manga concluded after the ending of both seasons of the anime. Overall a great series and worth the watch. I'm including a brief synopsis of some of my fave characters ^_^
Shinku: she's not as gentle as she looks but she's a lady who doesn't tolerateof her servants slip ups.She has a really deep and caring personality especially for her medium Jun. She often gives amazing advice that comes in really handy. Overall she's the doll that the other dolls look up to.
Hinaichigo: just like her name says she loves
any strawberrys in practically everything. Her sweet
and caring nature gives her the smile and adorable
personality that makes even her enemies fall for
cuteness. She's really naieve and easily cries when
provoked. Out of all the dolls she's the most innocent
and is taken advantage of because of that.

Demonbane (^__^)
Miskatonic University is a fictional university in the fictional town of Arkham, Massachusetts created by HP Lovecraft, an author of horror from the early 20th century. The Necronomicon is also a creation of HP Lovecraft who used the book of forbidden and maddening knowledge in several of his short stories. [1]
Eps 1 "I AM PROVIDENCE" is named after a line in one of the letters HP Lovecraft had written during his life. In 1977 fans of Lovecraft had created a headstone to mark his burial place and on it they put the line from his letter "I AM PROVIDENCE."
Eps 3, Reanimator is likely supposed to be a play on Herbert West: Reanimator is a story written by Lovecraft.
Eps 4, "The Invaders" is also the name of a Cthulhu Mythos story by Henry Kuttner.
Eps 5, "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is also a story of the same name by HP Lovecraft.
eps 9, "The Hunt" is also the name of a Cthulhu Mythos story by Henry Kuttner.
Eps 11 "The Return of the Sorcerer" would but a nod to Clark Ashton Smith's "The Return of the Sorcerer." Clark Ashton Smith was a correspondent of HP Lovecraft while he lived. In the story itself, the Necronomicon is quoted.
Eps 12, "Strange Eons" is a name taken from the book written by Robert Bloch of the same name. Bloch was a good friend of HP Lovecraft. Bloch is best known for the novel turned movie he wrote called... "Psycho." It references a line from the Necronomicon mentioned in several of Lovecraft's stories, "That is not dead which can eternal lie / And with strange aeons even death may die."
Al Azif's name is derived from the "Arabic" name of the Necronomicon, which is "Al Azif." And again, the Necronomicon is a fictional book created by HP Lovecraft.
Azrad's name was taken from the name of the author of the Necronomicon, Abdul Alhazred.
